[WIP] Shared Studio in Murray Hill
[Individual]
Living in a shared studio apartment is sometimes difficult to maximize space with two agendas -- three if you count your furry friends. This spatial plan creates a balance between home, office and leisure, designating privacy and collective space while maintaining an open concept.
Office Section
To create a cozy corner, the office area’s placement by the window allows for optimal concentration while receiving access to sunlight -- a key component to balancing productivity and tranquility.
Added Features for Benefit
A few features in the plan help contribute to the overall health of the tenants: shoe racks create extra storage and minimize dirt sediment, plants improve the overall air quality and mood, and placement of lamp supplements light when natural light is not present.
Because the studio flows into one large space, the placement and L-shape couch provides a natural distinction of space, separating the bedroom from the living.
Living Room Inspiration
A fusion of mid-century modern with Bohemian features incorporate the tranquility of woven mesh into the living area. Custom coasters create an accent color to the warm walnut finish and ivory linen.
Combining Two Accent Colors
Accenting two colors: Champagne and Cucumber is bridged together by ivory linen to act as a buffer between the two. Given that both colors are complementary, the decision to use pattern in champagne, ultimately reduced the warm tone to avoid clash for hierarchy in accent colors, balancing the Cucumber corduroy’s texture as an intermediate between the two.
